ADDICTIONS
Characterised by compulsion, craving and inability to stop, addiction is both behavioral and psychological. It can take many forms. Common addictions include drugs, tobacco and alcohol. When the terms 'substance dependency' and 'substance abuse' are used, reference is made to the harmful effects from the use of substances.
Substance addictions include tobacco, alcohol. opioids, cocaine, cannabis, hallucinogens, inhalants prescription drugs amphetamines and other unspecified substances. Behavioral addictions include playing video games, shopping, pornography, sex, eating, exercising, working and the internet. Impulsive Control Disorders include pyromania, kleptomania and intermittent explosive disorder (aggression) and gambling.
