We would like to inform our patients that Dr Alache-Nwankwo (Dr Dubby) will be leaving the practice at the end of October 2025.

Dr Dubby has provided dedicated care and support to many of our patients during her time with us, and she will be greatly missed by both patients and colleagues.

We wish Dr Dubby every success and happiness in her future endeavours.

We are also delighted to announce that Dr Rumman Afsar will be joining the practice as a GP Partner from 1st November 2025. We look forward to welcoming Dr Afsar to the team.

AI Note Taking

Winterton Medical Practice is now using Heidi, a secure NHS-supported digital assistant, to help our clinicians take notes during consultations. Heidi is not a decision-maker or a replacement for your GP or nurse — it simply listens (with your consent) and creates a draft summary of the conversation so the clinician can focus fully on you, rather than on typing.

You may notice a small tablet or microphone in the room. This is Heidi. Everything it records is handled under strict NHS data protection standards, and the clinician still reviews, edits and approves all notes before they are added to your medical record.

Using Heidi means our doctors and nurses can maintain eye contact, listen more closely and spend less time on paperwork during and after your appointment. If you would prefer not to use Heidi, you can say so at any time — it will not affect your care.

This technology is being introduced across many NHS practices to support safer, more efficient consultations. Our priority remains the same: providing personal, attentive care. Heidi simply helps us spend more time with you, and less time at the keyboard.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Hospital Waiting Lists

The NHS has been working hard to address the backlogs built up during
the COVID pandemic. As part of these plans, the NHS will be proactively contacting patients who have been waiting a long time for NHS funded treatment to remind them of their right to request to move to an alternative hospital where they may be seen quicker.

From Tuesday 31st October new digital portal called the Patient Initiated Digital Mutual Aid System (PIDMAS) will be introduced. Patients who have been waiting 40 weeks or more can use this portal to request an alternative choice of hospital.

Any patient who is eligible will receive either a SMS text message or a
letter from their current hospital explaining how to request to choose a
different hospital.

Please do not contact the practice regarding this process as we have no information regarding individual patients.

The hospital will contact you if you are eligible. Please do not contact
them either.

Further information about alternative choice is available on hospital
websites.
