OUR TEAM

TEAMWORK

Winterton Medical Practice is operated by a team of dedicated health professionals, highly trained staff and an experienced management team.

Winterton Medical Practice are delighted to announce that Dr Chidubem Alache-Nwankwo became a GP Partner at the practice on 1st October 2023. Many of you may have already met Dr Chidubem Alache-Nwankwo as she has been a Locum at Winterton surgery. I am sure our patients will join with us in welcoming her to the Partnership.

Patient care is our focus. In delivering high quality care we work with a multiplicity of other agencies - including hospitals, local authority services and in wider partnersips.

Understanding the needs of our patients and listening to their views is a process that we actively embrace, not just in Patient Group meetings - but in every interaction on a daily basis. We operate in an increasingly technological age with new systems and new ways of working.

Whilst we embrace these changes and improvements, we continue to focus on making sure that we do not lose sight of the importance of people. Our patients are the focus of our attention. To the best of our ability, we are here to provide them with good health care and good service.

We know that sometimes pills and treatments can be required, but we also understand the power of a smile and respect for all!

Teaching

We are actively involved in teaching students  from the Hull York Medical School.  This commitment to developing doctors of the future is also seen in our work with the Yokshire & Humber Postgraduate Deanery. The practice takes up to three GP registrars each year.

Working to develop medical students

Winterton Medical Practice works closely with Hull & York Medical School for the training of medical students.

The practice mentors 3rd, 4th and 5th year students. Patients may be asked if students can sit in on GP appointments as part of their learning.

The practice very much appreciates the support of patients in these cases. Occasionally, patients are asked to attend for consultations with the students as part of their development.

These are performed with the full support of one of the GP partners who oversee the students and patients in these consultations.

GP earnings 2022/23

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in Winterton Medical Practice in the last financial year was £81,551 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 9 part time GP’s who worked in the practice for more than six months.

However, it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earning is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgment about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.

Health Education

The practice also works with the Yorkshire and the Humber Postgraduate Deanery and annually takes up to 3 GP Registrars who are posted to GP practices as part of their on-going GP training and development.

The GP partners teach, debrief and mentor the registrars before and after their clincal sessions. It may be that from time to time patients are asked if they don't mind being video'd in order for the training Gps to assess the registrar's learning and consulting technique.

We are grateful for the support of patients who are involved in these training consultations and welcome other patients who may wish to become involved.

ResearchImage of a Practice Manager sitting at a desk

Winterton Medical Practice is involved in a variety of important research studies. These are actively recruiting, so if you are a patient at the practice you may be able to take part. If you are interested in learning more about our research work or might wish to join one of the studies,  further information is available on this website on our Research page.
